US security officials have warned of possible armed protests in the days before Joe Biden takes the oath.

As per the details, there are reports that armed groups are planning to gather at all 50 state Capitols and Washington DC days before the inauguration.

Strict security plans have been made for the event.

Mr. Biden and Kamala Harris are likely to take oath at a ceremony at the Capitol on 20th January.

Security officials say they are resolute there will be no repeat of the breach seen on 6 January, when thousands of pro-Trump supporters were able to break into the building where members of Congress were voting to certify the election result.

Donald Trump likely to be impeached the second time

House Democrats say a vote to impeach the president will happen on Wednesday.

Democrats have accused President Trump of “incitement of insurrection”. They say the vote will be held unless Vice-President Mike Pence invokes constitutional powers to remove Mr. Trump from office. There is no sign Mr. Pence is prepared to do so.

What important events will be happening in the coming days?

According to the international news agency, the following events will take place till 20th January.

Tuesday: The House of Representatives will vote on a resolution according to which Vice-President Mike Pence and the cabinet will be called on to invoke the 25th Amendment to declare the president unfit for office and remove him immediately. The resolution is expected to pass as Democrats hold a majority. But Mike Pence has shown no sign of his actions.

Wednesday: Democrats have decided to hold an impeachment vote. President Donald Trump is likely to be the first president to be impeached twice. According to the international news agency, the single article of impeachment – a formal charge – will then need to be sent to the Senate where a trial will be held but the timeline is not known.

20th January: Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will take oath as President and Vice President respectively.
