Diplomatic ties between Russia and the United States escalated on Thursday after Moscow recalled its ambassador from Washington following President Biden’s statement against alleged Russian meddling in the elections.

According to the media reports, the step is taken by Russia after US President Joe Biden’s interview with American news channel ABC.

Joe Biden during the interview said that Russian President Putin will face the consequences of commanding the US presidential election 2020 in favor of Trump.

“You’ll see shortly,” he said.

Russia has strongly denied the allegations in a statement issued stating “Similar, baseless allegations concerning Russia’s intelligence have been made more than once.”

Russia President’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said in the statement that accusations were not backed by evidence and would further harm bilateral ties.

Russia’s foreign ministry said in a statement that Anatoly Antonov had been summoned to Moscow for consultations on the future of Russia-US relations.

The statement added that relations with the United States are at a critical juncture and the recall of the ambassador has been taken to prevent irreparable damage to bilateral relations.
