Moment Russian tank driver surrenders in return for £7,500 & Ukraine citizenship in latest blow to ‘humiliated’ Putin
A RUSSIAN soldier surrendered a tank in exchange for £7,500 and Ukrainian citizenship.
After his military colleagues fled and his commander threatened to shoot him, the man, only known as Misha, waved the white flag and begged to switch sides.
According to Viktor Andrusiv, an adviser to Ukraine’s interior minister, Misha saw “no point in further fighting” and was afraid to return home.
A meeting point was then set up.
As Ukraine soldiers approached, an armoured vehicle rolled into view and paused.
Misha opens the driver’s hatch and joins President Volodymyr Zelensky’s men, as captured on video.
The group of 50 Ukrainians stood there cautiously before cheering and whistling in open celebration of the morale-boosting moment.
“A few days ago, Misha called us,” Mr Andrusiv explained. We handed over the information to military intelligence.
“They marked the location, and he arrived.” “The drone double-checked to make sure he was alone.”
He will receive his monetary reward at the end of the war. While the fighting continues, he has access to a TV, phone, kitchen, and shower.
It is the latest embarrassment for Moscow in the wake of widespread outrage over the targeting of civilians in Ukraine.
As the fighting takes its toll on Russian troops, reports of rage and low morale are emerging.
As he protested the horrific losses among his comrades, one soldier allegedly drove his tank into his commanding officer.
Colonel Yuri Medvedev was taken to the hospital with severe leg injuries following the reported incident.
An intercepted phone call this week revealed that a terrified Russian soldier told his grandmother that he wanted to “get the f*** out” of Ukraine and that the war would be over in two weeks.
“I don’t know how God saved me,” the unnamed man said.
“To be honest, I’d get the f** out of here right now if I didn’t care.”
“The most important thing is to get through hell alive.” We expected everything to be over in two weeks. It’s already been almost a month.”
He went on to say that the Russian troops’ legs and hands are frozen from living in the cold trenches.
In a separate intercepted phone call, a soldier complained about frostbite among his comrades and fierce Ukrainian resistance.
And shocking audio captured the moment Russia’s so-called “Butcher of Mariupol” demanded to know why one of his soldiers had not been mutilated for wearing the incorrect uniform.
It comes as a humiliation. Putin is said to be facing defeat in Kyiv, where Ukrainian troops fought yesterday to retake Kherson, Russia’s first victory.
President Zelensky said his troops had delivered “powerful blows” to Moscow’s forces encircling the capital and urged the Kremlin to negotiate an end to the bloody conflict.
He vowed he would never hand over any Ukrainian territory to tyrant Putin, 69.
Markian Lubkivskyi, a defence ministry adviser in Ukraine, predicted that troops would be able to retake the southern port city of Kherson.
The city, located at the mouth of the Dnieper River, fell earlier this month, marking Russia’s first significant victory of the war.

As air raid sirens were activated in the city, which is only 45 miles from NATO member Poland’s border, thick black smoke was seen rising from a TV tower.
Throughout the war, missile strikes have targeted TV towers in other Ukrainian cities.
