Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi briefed a visiting US team on Egypt’s position on the Palestinian problem.

El-Sisi stressed the importance of reaching a just and comprehensive solution that guarantees the Palestinian people’s rights under international law and creates opportunities for coexistence and cooperation among all the region’s peoples during a meeting with a US Congressional group led by Sen. Richard Shelby.

According to Egyptian Presidency spokesman Bassam Rady, El-Sisi welcomed the US delegation and “reiterated Egypt’s commitment to continuous engagement with Congressional leaders… within the context of Egypt’s established bilateral ties with the US.”

El-Sisi emphasized “Egypt’s determination to develop these partnerships in an atmosphere of mutual respect and common interest, particularly in light of the region’s turmoil and the rising challenges,” Rady added.

The US delegation emphasized the importance of US-Egypt ties and lauded the two nations’ cooperative efforts.

“Egypt is a foundation of security and stability in the Middle East and Arab world, as well as a critical ally of the United States in the area,” the organization stated in a statement.

They lauded Egypt’s accomplishments in battling terrorism and extremism, as well as the promotion of religious freedom in Egyptian society. They also lauded Egypt’s enormous efforts toward complete development.

Rady noted that the group examined measures to improve bilateral ties across a range of sectors, particularly politics, the military, and business. Additionally, regional and global developments were examined.
