The daughter of a British-American national detained in Iran protested outside the Foreign Office, pleading with the government to repatriate her father.

Morad Tahbaz, 66, was returned to custody in March after being released on furlough on the same day Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe was released.

Roxanne, his daughter, stated that her family felt abandoned by the British government.

The Foreign Office said Iran had “failed to honor” a commitment to release Mr. Tahbaz indefinitely.

The UK announced in March that it had secured Mr. Tahbaz’s furlough, as well as the release and return of Mrs. Zaghari-Ratcliffe and Anoosheh Ashoori, following an agreement with Iran to settle a £400 million debt.

Mr. Tahbaz, however, was compelled to return to Evin Prison two days later.

Ms. Tahbaz stated during a demonstration outside the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO) that her family was led to believe her father would be included in any deal negotiated with Iran.

She also revealed that the Iranian authorities had imposed a travel ban on her mother.”

It’s been one month since Nazanin and Anoosheh have come home, and my father’s still sitting in prison and my mother’s still on a travel ban,” Mr. Tahbaz’s daughter said.

“So we’re hoping to have the press and the media help us to call on the government and on the Foreign Secretary (Liz) Truss to keep her promise and bring him home to us, so we can be reunited as a family.”

Mr. Tahbaz, who also holds Iranian citizenship, was arrested in January 2018 as part of a crackdown on environmental activists.

He was a prominent conservationist who, along with his colleagues, was sentenced to ten years in prison on charges of spying for the US and undermining Iran’s security.
