The inflammatory remark, made by a man who has spent the majority of the last two and a half years abroad, has aroused outrage and debate about who he might be alluding to.

‘Well you know Harry came out and said he just wants to protect the Queen, well that’s like sitting there lighting the fuse of a cannon ball and saying “wait, okay, incoming, I am lighting this cannon ball here it comes, but I am protecting you,” Samantha Markle, Meghan’s half-sister, told LBC today

‘It doesn’t work that way, it is such hypocrisy and the actions don’t speak as loudly as the words, the works speak loudly but the actions don’t, it’s just terrible.

Samantha was asked what she felt about accusations that some of the reaction to Meghan was due to her skin colour and that there was a “racist element” to the situation.

‘I think it came out, there was absolutely PR that came out in defence of some of her behaviours that were being called on because that only started after there was a lot of controversy about wasteful spending and lying and things going wrong,’ Samantha responded.

‘You don’t believe it, Samantha?’ Ferrari inquired.

‘I don’t buy it,’ Samantha remarked. I believe that when they were held accountable for their own conduct, the race card became the smokescreen.

‘That’s my take, that’s how I feel, because it was only then that it was brought up.’

‘It wasn’t brought up when there was a $40 million wedding with a gorgeous choir and the Fab Four running around with wind in their hair and great images,’ she says.

It follows allegations that the Royal Family is ‘tired’ of the never-ending soap opera surrounding Prince Harry, but is determined to maintain a business-as-usual demeanour as they commemorate the Queen’s 96th birthday.

The monarch had a low-key day at Sandringham yesterday as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were working in London, where they had to evade inquiries from broadcasters about the disgruntled prince’s new comments.

Some say Charles is ‘tired’ of the ongoing wranglings, but he’s encouraged by the fact that he saw his son last week.

Although Clarence House claimed it would “not be pulled into commenting on a private encounter,” a source said Charles and Camilla were ‘pleased’ after seeing Harry and Meghan at Windsor.

When William and Kate visited the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) in London this week, they were forced to evade inquiries about Harry’s remark.

‘Sir, does the Queen need protection?’ a presenter asked William as they walked away.

The couple did not come to a halt or respond in any way.

William is likely to be angered by his situation, given he and his wife were praising the generosity of the British donors to Ukraine
