EU is considering measures to increase military assistance to Moldova

EU Council President Charles Michel said on Wednesday that the EU is studying methods to strengthen the country’s military.

Michel stated in Chisinau with Moldovan President Maia Sandu that “certain choices” have already been made to improve help in the areas of logistics and cyber defense.

He said the two talked about what additional military support may be supplied, but he wouldn’t go into detail “to avoid any escalation.”

“We don’t think that it is smart or intelligent to express provocative statements about [the] situation in Moldova or in Transnistria,” he said.

Adding, “We want to prevent any incident.”

Ukraine’s Defense Ministry described the mysterious explosions as a “planned provocation” by Russian secret services.

Three days before the incident, the authorities of the breakaway area “were already prepared for it and took care to install a secure and comfortable bunker” inside the Ministry of State Security.

It was destroyed in the explosions, according to a message by the ministry.

Transnistria’s ostensible “peacekeeping” presence has echoed Moscow’s rationale for invasions in Georgia and Ukraine.

Moreover, it is raising suspicions that the disputed area is now part of Vladimir Putin’s war strategy.
