The Constitutional Court of the Italian Republic, the most noteworthy court in Italy, decided on Wednesday that youngsters in the nation ought to be given the last names of the two guardians.
The decision has upset the practice of naturally giving a kid their dad’s family name. The court said the training was “biased and destructive to the character” of the youngster.
In a proclamation, the court said that youngsters ought to be given the two guardians’ last names in the request they choose, except if the guardians settle on only one of the names.
For the choice to be executed, it must be supported by the Italian parliament.
Elena Bonetti, Minister for Family and Equal Opportunities in Italy said on Facebook that the public authority would completely uphold the choice. She added that guardians ought to assume equivalent liability in the childhood of a child.
