Sanctions, weaponry, and EU support: Zelensky talks with the French Foreign Minister

Ukraine looks to France for leadership in fighting Russian aggression, providing weaponry, supporting Ukraine’s European integration, and enforcing sanctions against Russia.

According to the Head of State’s press service, the parties focused their attention on the subject of unblocking Ukrainian ports in order to avoid a worldwide food catastrophe. In this backdrop, Zelensky urged French allies not to succumb to the aggressor’s blackmail and pressure in order to ease sanctions against Russia.

Moreover, the group emphasised the importance of implementing the EU’s next, sixth package of sanctions against Russia as quickly as feasible.

The President stated that Ukraine relied on France’s support for the European Union leaders’ decision to grant Ukraine the status of a candidate for EU membership in June.
