“A few months ago, our expert group chaired by Yermak and McFaul suggested recognizing Russia’s actions against Ukraine as genocide. And here is the first real result of the visit of the First Lady of Ukraine to the United States – Senators Risch, Cardin, Wicker, Blumenthal, Portman, Shaheen and Graham presented a draft resolution recognizing Russia’s actions in Ukraine as genocide,” Zelensky said.

He claims that the resolution declares that Russia’s activities in Ukraine, such as the forcible deportation of Ukrainian citizens to its country and the targeted death of civilians during mass atrocities, constitute genocide against the Ukrainian people.

The president emphasised that Olena Zelenska’s speech to the US Congress was followed quickly by the senators’ introduction of the resolution.

Zelensky also stated in his video address that the draught resolution condemns Russia for its acts of genocide against the people of Ukraine; calls on the US and its NATO and EU allies to support the Ukrainian government in order to stop further Russian acts of genocide against the Ukrainian people; and supports tribunals and international criminal investigations to hold Russian political leaders and military personnel accountable for an aggression war.

Zelensky insisted, “With all its terrorist acts against Ukrainians and our nation, Russia is merely burying itself.
