The British adolescent Alex Batty, who vanished six years ago and then reappeared in southern France, arrived back in the country on Saturday, according to local authorities.

When the youngster vanished in 2017 at the age of eleven while on vacation in Malaga, Spain, with his mother and grandfather, he had left a spiritualist community in the Pyrenees mountains.

The adolescent met with a relative and police officers, according to Greater Manchester Police, who went with him on his return trip to the United Kingdom.

Assistant Chief Constable Matt Boyle told reporters, “It gives me great pleasure to say that Alex has now made his safe return to the UK after six years.”

Boyle stated that in order to decide whether to launch a criminal inquiry, they must first have a conversation with the adolescent to discuss what transpired.

Toulouse deputy prosecutor Antoine Leroy stated on Friday that the adolescent had lived in “spiritual communities” for the previous two years, but not in a cult, with his mother in various parts of southern France.

Leroy stated that the boy’s mother might be in Finland at the moment and that the grandfather passed away approximately six months ago.

According to the national TV channel in France, a search was conducted to locate Batty’s mother.
