As the 2024 presidential race heats up, US President Joe Biden and potential rival Donald Trump have been trading barbs with one another.

Mr. Biden stated that “we cannot let him win” and that one of the reasons he is running for a second term in 2020 is to stop the Republican.

Mr. Trump stated at an international news agency event that he believed Mr. Biden was too senior for this kind of political fight.

As of now, neither contender is the official nominee of their respective parties.

Despite being the front-runner in the Republican contest, Mr. Trump is still facing four felony charges. As the current president, Mr. Biden is the presumed Democratic nominee.

According to recent polls, there appears to be a close contest between the two.

At a campaign fundraiser outside of Boston, Mr. Biden addressed reporters off-camera and stated, “If Trump wasn’t running, I’m not sure I’d be running. But we cannot let him win.” But we can’t allow him to prevail.”

The president’s statements were seen as the first time he has explicitly linked his hopes for a second term to his opposition to Mr. Trump’s bid for a comeback.

Mr. Trump made an appearance at an international news agency town hall in Davenport, Iowa, later on Tuesday.

“You are promising America tonight, you would never abuse power as retribution against anybody?” questioned host Sean Hannity.

With a “except for day one,” Mr. Trump retorted. “I want to close the border and I want to drill, drill, drill.”

Additionally, he expressed his doubt that Mr. Biden would “make it physically” through the demanding campaign that lay ahead.

He claimed that his opponent’s mental state is “possibly equally as bad or even worse” than his physical condition.

On Wednesday, the fourth Republican presidential debate will take place in Alabama, and Mr. Trump will not be attending.
