Trump Rebukes Fani Willis Over Prosecutor Romance

Former President Donald Trump has sharply criticized Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis after she publicly admitted to having a “personal relationship” with special prosecutor Nathan Wade, who is involved in Trump’s criminal case in Georgia.

In a social media post, Trump alleged that Willis had admitted to a sexual relationship with Wade and accused her of orchestrating a scheme to target him. Trump claimed that by going after the highest-level person and the Republican nominee, Willis was able to secure more funding for the prosecution, calling the entire legal process a “scam” that is “totally discredited and over.”

The revelation about the relationship came to light after Trump’s co-defendant, Michael Roman, accused Willis of having a romantic affair with Wade last month. Despite these allegations, Willis has stated that she will not step aside from the case, rejecting Roman’s claims that the relationship makes the indictment “fatally defective.”

In response to the swirling accusations, Willis dismissed Roman’s motion as an attempt to garner media attention and defend Wade’s legal capabilities. Wade, in an affidavit, clarified that he and Willis were no more than friends at the time of his 2021 hiring, and their personal relationship developed in 2022.

Roman, along with Trump, has requested the dismissal of charges against him and has called for blocking the Fulton County District Attorney’s office, Willis, and Wade from handling the case.

This recent development adds a new layer of complexity to Trump’s legal challenges, as he faces four criminal indictments amid his presidential campaigns. Although not yet the official Republican nominee for the 2024 election, Trump remains a strong contender, particularly with Nikki Haley being the only other GOP candidate in the race. The ongoing legal drama surrounding the personal relationship between the district attorney and the special prosecutor further intensifies the political and legal landscape surrounding Trump’s prosecution.
