Sunrisers Hyderabad batsman Priyam Garg plays a shot during the Indian Premier League 2020 cricket match against Chennai Super Kings, at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, in Dubai.
Priyam Garg, shocked the cricket fans as he scored a half-century on 23 balls against Chennai Super League during the on-going Indian Premier League (IPL) played in UAE.
The Sunrise Hyderabad came under clouds during the 11th over only to be left stranded mid-pitch by Garg as the latter failed to respond.
But, the 19-year-old promising player took the onus of scoring runs after Williamson’s departure, and along with Abhishek Sharma (31 off 24), pulling SRH out of a dangerous situation.
In that fashion he raced to his maiden IPL fifty, the inning’s top-score by a fair mile. And SRH had conjured 95 runs in 9 overs since Williamson’s run-out, and 164 in all.
Given CSK’s form this season, those runs were always going to keep Hyderabad’s frontline bowlers interested.
Then there was the start to this edition of the IPL, which saw CSK starting and finishing Friday’s game at the bottom of the table.
The Twitteratis were thrilled to see Garg performing at his best after his maiden 50 came off 23 deliveries and was marred with six boundaries and a solitary maximum to bail his side out of hot waters.
Here’s how social media has responded to Priyam Garg’s knock:
