The second incident of online taxi driver killing has been reported in Karachi in the past two months.

The incident revolved around the discovery of a young man’s body near Karachi’s Sachal Safora Goth late last night.

The victim, identified as Shahzeb from Hyderabad, became the center of a murder case registered by his grieving father, Riyaz Ansari.

The Sachal police station took charge of the case, invoking provisions related to murder.

According to the distraught father, Shahzeb had embarked on a ride from Hyderabad to Karachi using an online application.

After dropping off the first passenger in Korangi, Shahzeb took another ride to the Gulzar-e-Hijri.

However, subsequent attempts to reach his son on call proved futile, raising concerns.

Using the tracker on the vehicle, it was revealed that Shahzeb’s car was moving around in the Sachal area.

The distressed father provided the location to relatives in Karachi, who then informed the police.

The vehicle was eventually found in Safora, with Shahzeb’s lifeless body discovered some distance away.

Married two and a half years ago, Shahzeb left behind a one-and-a-half-year-old son.

This heartbreaking incident echoed a similar tragedy just two months prior when Naveed Baig, another taxi driver from Hyderabad, fell victim to murder in Steel Town on September 16.

The recurring violence against these essential service providers cast a shadow of concern over the safety of online taxi drivers in the city.
