KARACHI: Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has continued crackdown against gas theft across the province.
SSGC Spokesperson said actions were taken against gas theft in Korangi and New Karachi areas of Karachi. In Korangi area of Karachi, a raid was conducted on the dyeing factory in which the owner of the factory, Altaf Bhatti, was arrested.
On the other hand, Counter Gas Theft Operations (CGTO) and Recovery Department established for anti-gas theft raided Bilal Sweet factory in New Karachi area of Karachi, Umar Hayat, the owner of sweet shop and bakery, was arrested while stealing gas.
Both the gas thieves were stealing gas directly from the company’s main line.
Spokesperson SSGC said the raiding team arrested the two suspects and seized the equipment used in the theft.
The fines will be imposed based on the stolen gas load.

Earlier, National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) approved a reduction of Rs 0.86 per unit in the electricity tariff on Thursday, which will be reflected in consumers’ bills for October.
According to the issued notification, the reduction is based on the fuel charges adjustment (FCA) for August.
Consumers who have not yet paid their October bills will see the adjustment immediately, while those who have already paid will receive the relief in their November bills.
