Parliamentary Panel approves the name of Sikandar Sultan Raja for the position of chief election commissioner (CEC).

As per details,  The government and opposition have agreed over the name of Sikandar Sultan Raja for the position of chief election commissioner (CEC) besides finalising names for two Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) members.

In a meeting held at the Parliament House on Monday, both the government and the opposition agreed to the name of Nisar Durrani as the ECP member from Sindh, while Shah Mehmood Jatoi will fill the vacant slot for Balochistan.

However, the final decision regarding who will head the commission decided after consultation in the parliamentary committee today.

Earlier on Monday, Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif had sent Prime Minister Imran Khan three new names for the post of CEC, which included Irfan Qadir, Ikhlaq Tarar and Nasir Mehmood Khosa.
