Karachi: President Dr Arif Alvi has expressed deep sadness over the death of Dr. Abdul Qadir Soomro, who died of covid-19 yesterday (April 06).
According to the sources the president has shared his message on twitter in which he said that Dr Soomro had contributed so much for the people.
He established a special ward for coronavirus patients at Al Khidmat Hospital, Sukkur, the statement said.
The message also said that he had played a key role in the fight against Covid-1.
Dr Arif also paid a tribute to Dr Osama Riaz from Gilgit-Baltistan for sacrificing his life.
Earlier, a young physician, Pakistani hero Dr Osama Riaz, became the first Pakistani doctor who died of coronavirus which he had contracted while physically handling suspected COVID-19 patients returning to Gilgit-Baltistan from overseas and other parts of the country.

Abdul Qadir Soomro: Another front line warrior dies of coronavirus
Earlier on April 7, Abdul Qadir Soomro, a renowned doctor died who contracted Covid-19 few days back while performing his duties.
It is to be remembered that Dr. Abdul Qadir Soomro had created a special quarantine ward to fight the coronavirus in Gulshan-e-Hadeed area of Karachi, in which he was treating patients suffering from COVID-19.
Dr Abdul Qadir Soomro was infected with coronavirus while treating patients, since last 4 days his condition was deteriorating and today he passed away.
He wasn’t well from last few months but still kept his OPD running till he admitted. He has served as MS at Al-Khidmat hospital Tharparker.
