Another police officer infected with Coronavirus and lost his life after which the number of police personnel who died due to the virus has risen to three.
According to a statement issued by the Sindh Police Spokesperson’s Office, ASI Sher Gul Khan Niazi, 48, posted at MT Garden, was infected with the virus while on duty. The police officer died during treatment, the statement added.
Earlier on May 5, Sarfraz Nawaz Sheikh, senior superintendent of police (SSP) of the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell, said 55-year-old police constable Muhammad Anees died while being taken to Indus Hospital.
He said that Constable was posted as a gunman with DSPLC in Malir.
Earlier on May 3, ASI Muhammad Anwar, who was working as a shift operator in the SSP City Office, died. He was diagnosed with the COVID-19 on April 28.
Yesterday, Major Muhammad Asghar laid his life in the line of duty at Torkham border in fight against COVID-19. Evacuated to CMH Peshawar with breathing problems, was put on ventilator but succumbed to Coronavirus.
Doctors, including Dr Osama, Dr Furqan, Dr Abdul Qadir Soomro and Dr Zubeida Sattar, have also died of coronavirus in the country.

Coronavirus has affected not only the general public but also doctors, paramedics and police personnel on duty at the front line, while many of them have died.
Note that on April 20, 15 police personnel were reported to have contracted the corona virus in Karachi, after which the top management had directed the senior police officials to test their colleagues and family members as well. ۔
Later, it was reported that on April 28, more than 50 policemen, including six inspectors, were infected with the coronavirus in Sindh police.
Reportedly, in the last two days in Sindh, 36 more personnel, including police officers, were infected with the coronavirus, bringing the total number of infected police personnel to 151.
A spokesman for the Sindh police said in a statement that about 151 officers and personnel had been infected with the coronavirus, while 36 new cases had been reported in the past two days.
The first case of coronavirus in the country reported on February 26 in Karachi, the capital of Sindh. With the advent of the first case, various measures were taken, including the closure of educational institutions, parks, cafes, restaurants, malls and other things.
The number of confirmed cases in Pakistan is 31003 out of which 673 have died while 8212 people have recovered, after which the number of active cases in the country at present is 22118.
12017 people are affected in Sindh province while in Punjab this number has reached 11093.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 4669 people have been infected with the virus, while in Balochistan 2017, people have been affected by the pandemic.
In Islamabad, the number is 679, while in Gilgit-Baltistan, 442 people have been infected with the virus, and in Azad Kashmir, 86 people have been infected.
