President Dr. Arif Alvi visited Upper House and met Chairman Senate

President Dr. Arif Alvi visited the Upper House on Monday. The President called on Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjarani in his chamber.

During the meeting, arrangements for the budget meeting were discussed in detail. This is the first visit of the President to the Upper House, Senate Hall and Chairman Senate Chamber.

The President and the Chairman Senate during the budget session agreed on effective security measures for the protection of Member of Parliament and other concerned persons.

The Chairman Senate explained the President of the steps being taken to curb and prevent the spread of COVID-19. The President also visited the Senate Hall and the Senate Library and other relevant departments where he was briefed on the working procedures of various departments.

Members of the Senate and Secretary of the Senate and senior officials were also present during the visit.

The President expressed satisfaction over the steps taken by the Upper House to fight against coronavirus and hoped that the Members of Parliament and concerned officers would ensure full implementation of the SOPs set up for this purpose.

President Dr Arif Alvi has termed the doctors as heroes who lost their lives battling against coronavirus pandemic.

In a tweet on Monday on the death of pathologist Dr Aurangzeb and pediatrician Dr Muhammad Azam Khan due to COVID-19, the President expressed deep grief.

He also said the nation acknowledged their sacrifice. The heroes did their best to help people survive the dangerous disease.

The President also offered condolences to the families of the deceased doctors.
