Thailand announced on Wednesday (Jun 24) that the country has defeated the novel coronavirus.

The local media reported that the country is now free from local coronavirus infections for the last one month.

The spokesman for the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration, Taweesilp Visanuyothin said that the nation has not reported any local COVID-19 infections for the last 30 days.

Visanuyothin also said, “It shows the importance of Thai people-power, which has kept the country free of the disease for one month.”

3,157 people have been reported in Thailand while 3,026 patients have been recovered from the virus. The death toll is 58 people from COVID-19.

The sources said that the country has conducted 468,175 tests for the virus.

Earlier, Thailand has not reported any new coronavirus case since March 9. The country has a total of 3,017 COVID-19 cases and the virus killed 56 people since the outbreak increased in January.

A spokesman for the government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, Taweesin Wisanuyothin said, the government asked the public to wear masks and maintain social distancing

Taweesin also said, southern Thailand has been a large figure of the coronavirus cases.
