ISLAMABAD: Surgeon General Pak Army Lieutenant General Nigar Johar has said that women are respected in Pakistan and every woman has a place in the country.

In an interview to BBC, Lt. Gen. Nigar Johar said that women in Pakistan are showing their spirit in every field including communication and information technology.

“Development and success require dedication and hard work. If you do that, there is no gender issue. We have all kinds of protection here,” she said.

Lt. Gen. Nigar Johar said that she was proud to join the Pakistan Army, the Army believes in merit and her appointment is a testament to that.

The Surgeon General of the Pakistan Army further said that the Army is working with the government against the Coronavirus pandemic for the protection of the people as much as possible.

Note that, Major General Nigar Johar Khan is the Pakistan Army’s first female lieutenant general.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), she has also been appointed as the first female surgeon general of the army.

Following it, several politicians such as Senator Faisal Javed Khan congratulated her and called her the pride of Pakistan.

In 2017, Major General Khan became the third woman in the country’s history to hold the rank of a major general in the Pakistan Army.

Moreover, she hails from the Panjpir village of the Swabi district and completed her schooling from Rawalpindi. Major General Nigar Khan graduated from the Army Medical College.
