MEXICO CITY: Gunmen stormed a funeral home in Mexico, killing eight people.
According to a report by a foreign news agency, armed men indiscriminately opened fire on a funeral home in Mexico, as a result of which 8 people were killed and 12 were seriously injured.
The dead and injured were shifted to a hospital where medical aid is being provided to the injured while the condition of two others is said to be critical.
Gunmen targeted the funeral home at night, dozens of people present at the funeral.
Police say the incident is under investigation and progress has been made in identifying or arresting the attackers.
Earlier in July, 24 people were killed in a shooting at an illegal drug rehabilitation centre in the north-central Mexican state of Guyana.
Seven people injured in the shooting were rushed to a hospital for medical treatment, police said.
Governor Diego Sinhué Rodriguez Valjeo said the motive for the attack had not yet been determined, but that drug groups appeared to be involved.
