The federal government has permitted a substantial surge in the prices of three basic goods, including sugar, flour, and ghee, being sold at the country’s utility stores.

According to the details, the government accepted an escalation in the prices of sugar, ghee, flour by Rs17, Rs90, and Rs1505 separately at the Utility Stores.

A notification was also issued in this view.

According to sources, the sugar and ghee were selling at Rs68 and Rs 170 per kilogram under PM’s preceding relief package.

Now both products will sell at Rs85 and Rs260 per kilogram after a rise of Rs17 and Rs90.

Whereas similarly, the rate of a 20-kilogram bag of flour has been hiked by Rs150 to Rs950. The price of a 10-kg flour bag also increased by Rs75 and being sold at Rs475.

Prime Minister Imran Khan while chairing a meeting to examine prices of important products had directed the provincial chief secretaries to guarantee proper legitimate act against officials showing neglect with respect to guaranteeing prices of daily use items.

The requirement of vital commodities, to the people, at inexpensive prices, is the main concern of the government, he had stressed.

He had also ordered that besides, guaranteeing appropriate prices of daily use items through the Competition Commission of Pakistan, widespread action against racketeers and mafia should continue, delivering assistance to the public.
