ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday dismissed the bail plea of the prime suspect in the alleged gang-rape case of a food delivery boy at a private university in Islamabad.

A 22-year-old food delivery boy was allegedly gang-raped at a private university’s campus in June 2021.

Authorities arrested Ibrahim Khan, a student at the Islamic University of Islamabad, for allegedly raping a delivery boy for an online food delivery service.

Ibrahim Khan, subjected the victim, who is a student to sexual abuse at the university’s hostel when a 22-year-old victim went to deliver a food order.

Following the incident, a disciplinary committee of the varsity had expelled Ibrahim along with another student, named Mahmood, on June 18.

A professor at the varsity, Dr. Mushtaq, had written a letter to the university’s rector, demanding a probe into the matter.

“The culprits involved in the incident should be penalized instead of covering up the crime,” wrote Mushtaq in the letter.

Additionally, his bail application was denied by the Islamabad High Court (IHC), and Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri of the IHC issued a verdict ordering Ibrahim Khan’s dismissal and consequent arrest. Following Court instructions, Khan was apprehended outside the courthouse soon after the hearing.
