KARACHI: The K-Electric Limited will charge 7.5 per cent advance income tax on monthly electricity bills of over Rs25,000 from July 1 from the customers who are not on the active taxpayers list, the power utility tweeted.
The K-Electric has asked the consumers to update their computerized national identity cards (CNICs) against their current account number to avail the tax exemption if they are tax filers and their name is present on the active taxpayers list.
As per the Finance Act 2021 applicable across Pakistan, residential customers whose names do not appear on the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) active taxpayers list will be charged 7.5 per cent advance income tax on monthly electricity bills of Rs25,000 and above from July 1, 2021.
