Today, the nation is observing Youm-e-Ashura, Muharram 10, with solemnity and security in remembrance of Hazrat Imam Hussain’s martyrdom.

Today, mourning processions in connection with the 10th Muharram will be conducted in all of the country’s cities and towns.

Standard operating procedures (SOPs) for mourning processions have also been issued to prevent the spread of coronavirus cases.

According to Radio Pakistan, tight security measures have been put in place, and all security-related departments have been notified to avoid any untoward incidents during the mourning processions.

To avoid any unforeseen incidents, the government has shut down mobile services in key cities including Karachi, Hyderabad, Quetta, and Sukkur. This is the country’s second Ashura amid coronavirus outbreak.

KARACHI: The major procession in Karachi will take place from Nishtar Park to the Hussainian Iranian at Kharadar, with Allama Shahenshah Naqvi giving the speech. The procession’s participants will pray at Tibet Centre, and all of MA Jinnah’s connected roads have been closed to ensure the procession’s safety.

PESHAWAR: In Peshawar, the major procession will begin from Imambargah Agha Syed Ali Shah Rizvi and end until it reaches its destination. In order to avoid any unforeseen incidents, strict security measures have been implemented.

QUETTA: The major procession will begin from Imambargah Nichari Alamdar Road in Quetta. After Maghrib prayers, the procession will arrive at its destination. Quetta and Dera Ismail Khan’s processions began at 8 a.m. and 7:30 a.m., respectively.

LAHORE: Nisar Haveli will be the starting point for the city’s major procession. It will end in the evening in Karbala Gamay Shah. To protect and secure mourners, 10,000 border guards have been deployed.

Other Processions began at 9 a.m. in Hyderabad and Jhang, 10 a.m. in Faisalabad, 11 a.m. in Gujranwala and Rohri, and 12 p.m. in Sukkur and Khairpur.
