According to sources, the Sindh High Court (SHC) has extended the pre-arrest bail of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Nisar Khuhro in a case allegedly involved in wheat procurement.

Nisar Khuhro, as well as the other suspects in the case, appeared in the Sindh High Court. The lawyer for the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) informed the court that an investigation against the PPP stalwart and other suspects was underway and requested additional time from the court.

While extending Nisar Khuhro’s pre-arrest bail, the court directed the National Bureau of Investigation to conduct a complete investigation into the accused by September 28 and provide a progress report.

Nisar Khuhro is accused of providing flour mills with wheat for billions of rupees on credit to the flour mills. According to NAB sources, Khuhro was the Minister of Food at the time the wheat was provided to the millers on credit.

Nisar Khuhro, the former opposition leader, speaker of the Sindh Assembly, and food minister is being investigated by the National Accountability Bureau for suspected irregularities in the wheat purchase, assets beyond income, and misuse of authority (NAB).
