Pakistan and Qatar agree to continue constructive role in Afghanistan
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi announced on Thursday that Pakistan and Qatar have agreed to continue with their constructive role in Afghanistan to avoid a humanitarian crisis in the country.
In a press conference alongside Qatar’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani in Islamabad, Qureshi said that both countries share a joint vision of peace in Afghanistan.
Pakistan’s top diplomat was speaking to the media after holding delegation-level talks with his Qatari counterpart.
“The world community should come forward to extend financial and humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan,” urged Qureshi but warned that spoilers should not be allowed to play with the peace efforts in Afghanistan.
PM Imran Khan lauds Qatar role in the Afghan peace process
Qatar’s deputy prime minister also met Prime Minister Imran Khan during his day-long trip to Islamabad.
According to the PM Office, the premier lauded Qatar’s role in support of the Afghan peace process.
“Highlighting that Pakistan had suffered enormously due to protracted conflict in Afghanistan, the prime minister underscored the importance of a peaceful, secure and stable Afghanistan for Pakistan and the region,” said the PM Office in a series of tweets.

The PM reiterated with the Qatari official that it is vital to stabilise the security situation, prevent a humanitarian crisis, and stabilise the economy.
“Pakistan has and will continue to play its role for the economic uplift, humanitarian relief and assistance to Afghanistan,” said PM Imran.
During the meeting, the two also spoke about diversifying Pakistan-Qatar relations and the PM conveyed warm regards to Qatar’s amir.
While Qatar’s deputy PM acknowledged Pakistan’s important role as well as efforts for regional peace and stability. He also underscored Qatar’s commitment to maintaining close contact with Pakistan on bilateral and regional matters.
