ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s exports to China, Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey and the Central Asian Republics grew 35 per cent during the first quarter of the current fiscal year, compared with the corresponding period of the last year, a senior official said.

In a tweet, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Commerce and Investment Razak Dawood said that the Ministry of Commerce’s focus on regional connectivity to increase trade with the neighbours has started showing results, as the exports to these countries grew up to $938 million during July-September 2021/22, compared with the exports of $694 million in July-September 2020/21.

“[The] MoC’s [Ministry of Commerce] focus on regional connectivity to increase trade with our neighbours is beginning to show results. During Q1 [first quarter] of FY22, our exports to China, Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey and the Central Asian Republics grew 35 per cent to $938 million, compared with $694 million in Q1 [first quarter] of last FY,” Dawood tweeted.

The adviser encouraged the exporters to aggressively promote their products in the regional markets to boost trade.
