ISLAMABAD: Security has been put on high alert in the Red Zone of Islamabad as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced peaceful protests in front of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) offices across the country.

As per details, the heavy contingent of police had been deployed on the roads leading to the Red Zone.

All roads leading to Red Zone except Serena Chowk and Margalla Road were cordoned off with containers.

Whereas, security officials were also deployed outside the ECP office in the capital and the road was blocked with barbed wire.

Federal police said that no protestors would be allowed to enter the Red Zone and urged the demonstrators to record their protests at the press club or F-9 Park.

The security official also maintained that the peaceful protest is the right of all citizens but the order of Supreme Court (SC) and the Islamabad High Court (IHC) are clear in this regard that nobody would be allowed to disturb the security situation in Red Zone.

On the other hand, Section 144 is enforced by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad in the red zone.

Notably, PTI Chairman Imran Khan has called for the protests in front of the election commission offices at 12 noon.

As per details, the demonstration will take place against the delay in the decision of the reference filed against the dissident members of the party and the biased attitude shown by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikander Sultan Raja.
