Srinagar: Illegally detained senior APHC leader, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, has appealed to the United Nations and international human rights organizations to put pressure on India to release all Kashmiri political detainees stuffed under inhuman conditions in jails of India and occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Nayeem Ahmad Khan in a message from New Delhi’s infamous Tihar Jail said India cannot suppress the freedom sentiment of the Kashmiri people through illegal detentions, arrests and harassment. He pointed out that despite continued detention, the morale of all Hurriyat leaders and activists was high and they were ready to render any sacrifice for the Kashmir cause.

Meanwhile, Indian troops launched a massive cordon and search operation in the Herpora Batagund area of Shopian district, today. The troops broke into the houses, harassed inmates and vandalized the household goods.

Several health workers were injured when Indian police subjected them to brute force during their protest for their demands near BC Road in Jammu. Dozens of workers were detained during the police action and shifted to Gandhinagar police station in the city.

One Indian paramilitary soldier was killed and 12 others were injured in a road accident in Srinagar.

On the other hand, a special prayer meeting was organised by Jammu and Kashmir Awami Action Committee at Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, today, to pay tributes to great political and religious leader, Mirwaiz Muhammad Yousuf Shah (RA) on his 55th death anniversary. People on the occasion expressed strong resentment over the continued house detention of the head of the organisation Mirwaiz Umar Farooq since 5 August 2019, and demanded his immediate release.

APHC-AJK at a meeting in Islamabad also remembered the religious, social and political services of Mirwaiz Mohammad Yousuf Shah. The APHC-AJK Convener, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani has condemned India for the forced recitation of its anthem in mosques, shrines, Imambargahs of occupied Jammu and Kashmir and prosecution of Kashmiri students, scholars and journalists in the territory.
