Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) celebrates Eid-ul-Fitr today unlike rest of the country, reported Bol News.

The province is celebrating Eid today announced by Chief Minister Mahmood Khan’s Special Assistant Barrister Dr Muhammad Ali Saif on Sunday.

While taking it to Twitter, Ali Saif said that the government had received a total of 130 sightings of the new moon from different parts of the province.

“The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to officially celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Monday, May 2. Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated with religious fervour across the province tomorrow,” said the special assistant.

Eid prayer gatherings were held in mosques in different parts of Peshawar and while prayers were also offered at the main Eid Gah Charsadda Road.

However, the rest of the country will be celebrating Eid tomorrow (Tuesday) with religious fervor.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee on Sunday announced that the moon of Shawwal was not sighted and the nation will celebrate Eid on May 3.

“It was decided through consensus that Eid will be observed on May 3 across the country,” said Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad in a press conference after the moon was not sighted.
