WhatsApp now tech test a feature that displays an estimated time for file sharing, as well as new drawing tools.

When transferring files via WhatsApp, it has been revealed that the company is testing the ability to share the update (ETA). For Android, iOS, and Content providers, the new feature is stated to be under beta testing. It comes in handy when users are transferring huge files via WhatsApp. WhatsApp has been beta testing new drawing tools for iOS users separately. Two new pencils appear to be included in the set to help in drawing.

WhatsApp has been sending out the file-sharing ETA feature for testers through beta releases version 2.22.8.11 on Android, 22.8.0.74 on iOS, and version 2.2209.3 on desktops, according to WhatsApp beta tracker WABetaInfo. The capability has reportedly been available on PC since last month and is now being rolled out to some iPhone and Android beta testers.

WABetaInfo also supplied a screenshot showing a new ETA label directly below the file name, as well as the % status, which indicates how much of the content has been submitted for sharing.

While sharing a jpeg image with your business connections, the ability to indicate ETA is useful.

Users can generally transfer files up to 100MB in size across all platforms with WhatsApp. However, it is predicted that it is actively engaging in increasing the limit to 2GB, similar to what Telegram did in 2020. Per the WABetaInfo, the enhanced file size limit is now only available to a few beta testers in Argentina.

WhatsApp is beta testing new sketching tools on iOS in addition to the file-sharing ETA. According to WABetaInfo, these tools are part of WhatsApp for iOS beta version 22.8.0.73, albeit not all beta testers can see them at this moment.

Two pencils that are sharpened over the default marker are among the new equipment. WhatsApp has also relocated the current blur tool to the bottom bar, among the two new pencils and the existing marker. On the latest update of WhatsApp for iPhone, the blur tool is positioned under the colour bar.

WhatsApp’s Android beta contestants are expected to get the new graphics as well.

The exact date when the new ETA capability and sketching tools will be available to users via a public release is still unknown.
