One actor is prepared to take on the lead part in an LL Cool J biopic, should one be developed. The 55-year-old NCIS: Los Angeles actor tweeted to ask his fans if they thought he should make a biopic on his life.

Along with three old images from his rapping career from his younger years, he asked the question. In one of the images, LL Cool J is shown carrying a big boombox above his head in a music video, and in another, he is seen on stage with a microphone.

Tristan “Mack” Wilds, an actor, took the question seriously despite the rapper’s apparent attempt at humor.

“I mean… what we are talking about?” he tweeted in response.

Positive feedback was received in reaction to Wilds’ post, with some praising the actor and others pointing out how similar the two actors appeared to be.

But he’s not the only one putting his name forward for the film. The executive producer of the acclaimed short film Two Distant Strangers, Nicholas Maye, tweeted, “Absolutely, I’ll produce.”

He also said “well Mack” in response to Wilds’ tweet, complete with the wide-eye emoji.

James Todd Smith, better known by his stage as LL Cool J, has had a long and successful career. In 1984, he signed with Def Jam Recordings, and over the course of the next 13 albums, he produced singles like “The Boomin’ System,” “Rock the Bells,” and “Mama Said Knock You Out.”

He also made a name for himself as an actor, playing the part of Special Agent Sam Hanna on NCIS: Los Angeles and appearing in films like Last Holiday and Slow Burn. He participated in the triple crossover episode event for NCIS, NCIS: Hawai’i, and NCIS: Los Angeles earlier this month.

He talked on The View in 2019 about the popularity of their program and his motivation for continuing.

“I think what it’s really about is we still care,” he said. “I don’t get up and just phone it in. I still care. I still have an acting teacher on the job. I still pay attention. I still care about the nuances. I still care about what happens.”

“I think that a lot of times we can get jaded, but when you come from where I come from you know about tapping the 40 and standing on the corner…” he continued. “You understand I have to make the most of this.”
