The director Christopher Nolan approached Hollywood actor Johnny Depp for The Dark Knight’s Riddler?

Johnny Depp is a well-known and versatile actor from the United States. Throughout his acting career, he has played some of the most unforgettable parts. He has, however, lost out on a number of high-profile parts, particularly those involving superheroes.

Depp is most recognized for playing Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise. Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and many more are among his other renowned flicks. Many people are unaware that he was on the verge of becoming a supervillain in DC comics.

According to a source, filmmaker Christopher Nolan approached Johnny Depp about playing the infamous comic villain Riddler in the sequel to The Dark Knight. Despite his denial, the actor stated that the late Heath Ledger’s stunning and award-winning portrayal as the Joker in The Dark Night terrified him. Talia Al Ghul, Catwoman, and Bane appeared as antagonists in Christopher Nolan’s subsequent film, The Dark Night Rises.

In addition, Johnny said that Val Kilmer earned the part of Batman in Joel Schumacher’s Batman Forever, which was originally intended for him. According to the source, Schumacher turned down the Golden Globe Award-winning actor’s casting in this part. Depp has also stated that he was intrigued to Namor, the anti-hero introduced in Wakanda Forever. The Tourist actor apparently chose to play Namor because he was a fan of The Submariner Comics, which is also the character’s other name.

According to certain sources, Johnny Depp was also a candidate to play Dr. Strange. The CEO of Marvel, Kevin Feige, batted down the rumours, arguing that the superhero genre did not require an actor of Depp’s calibre at the time. Even if the DC and Marvel brands eventually hired superb performers for these parts, it would be intriguing to see Depp’s unique flair come to the fore if he accepted to portray them.
