Rabia Butt opens up about her police officer role in ‘Gunah’

Rabia Butt, a well-known Pakistani actor, recently took to Instagram to discuss her role as a female police officer in the highly awaited mini-series Gunah. She dug into the depths of her character’s mind in a passionate piece, shedding light on the issues encountered by women in a male-dominated culture.

“In portraying the role of a righteous female police officer in mini-series Gunah, in a society where the rule of law is but a distant dream and women are deemed inferior to men, I, Rabia Butt, delve into the depths of my character’s consciousness,” Butt wrote on Instagram. As a Pakistani actor, I can’t ignore the harsh reality of our male-dominated society or the flaws in our legal system.”

The actor also discussed the role’s complexity. “While playing this character, my mind became an emotional battleground.” On the one hand, the weight of responsibility to set a good example and provide justice in such a difficult setting pushed down on me. “On the other hand, profound empathy emerged for the countless women who face daily challenges in a society that fails to recognize their true potential,” the actress wrote.

“This series stands as a powerful testament, highlighting the immense challenges women face while striving to forge a path towards justice amidst a societal landscape that constantly seeks to undermine their worth,” she continued. Returning to Gunah, brace yourselves. “The best is still to come!”

The actor previously praised the idea in an Instagram post. “This is it. After much anticipation, a labor of love. I’ll be waiting for your feedback because it’s important. Butt stated, “Gunah, a series that explores the depths of passion as it becomes a dangerous game and the mystique of love, the original sin.”

Gunah, Adnan Sarwar’s crime thriller, became a social media hit shortly after its premiere on Express Entertainment. The “exceptional” storyline and “stellar cast” of the six-episode limited series were praised by fans.

Malik Hayat Khan (Sarmad Khoosat) is a strong landlord who finds himself helpless when his wife, Gul Noor (Juggan Kazim), runs away with Ahmed (Ali Raza), their sons’ tuition teacher. Seeking relief, Malik’s in-laws (Roohi Khan and Zafar Abbas) propose that he marry their other daughter Gul Meher (Saba Qamar), and despite his reservations, Malik agrees for the sake of his children who have been abandoned.

However, when a determined SHO Sabiha (Butt) enters the scene, difficulties develop. She starts looking into the matter and finds information that implies there is more to Gul Noor’s disappearance than meets the eye.
