Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed a 2-month maintenance project on the Water Canal Bridge Waterfall along Sheikh Zayed Road, focusing on enhancing safety measures.
The maintenance project required over 600 hours of work, including dismantling and reassembling the waterfall’s exterior after refurbishment. Furthermore, polyethylene pipes replaced the stainless-steel ones for sustainability, and the outdated stainless-steel structure of the waterfall was replaced with a new one. Additionally, a platform was installed to improve worker accessibility and safety during maintenance.
This upgrade is part of RTA’s efforts to maintain and improve its infrastructure, promote sustainability, and prolong the lifespan of its assets. The maintenance process includes five phases: daily, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual, encompassing various tasks such as thermal imaging tests and inspection of lighting and electrical distribution panels.
The illuminated waterfall is a captivating attraction of Dubai Water Canal, drawing tourists and serving as a community gathering spot. Equipped with motion sensors, the waterfall halts when boats pass beneath, adding to its allure.
Dubai Water Canal, a flagship project of RTA, symbolizes both beauty and functionality, connecting Business Bay to the Arabian Gulf. Enhancing the cityscape, it provides recreational amenities for both residents and tourists.
