As Ramadan draws near, there’s a rising demand for Umrah pilgrimage, especially among UAE residents. Travel agencies have noticed a significant increase of 200% in inquiries for the pilgrimage during Ramadan compared to other times of the year.
With Ramadan falling in winter this year, operators anticipate even higher participation due to the cooler weather, making it more convenient for the spiritual journey.
Umrah packages, usually beginning at Dh3,000, witness a 25% increase in prices during the first 20 days of Ramadan, reaching Dh3,700. Prices escalate even further during the final ten days, nearly doubling. Hotels in Makkah and Madina offer accommodation for five nights during the initial 20 days, extending to the entire duration in the last ten days.
As Ramadan advances, package costs for the final ten days can soar up to Dh40,000, prompting aggregators to recommend early bookings for savings. These packages include visa, flights, and accommodation. Umrah by bus is increasingly popular, starting at Dh2,500.
Imran Mohammed from Al Tarwiyah Haj and Umrah service notes that bus journeys suit bachelors and businessmen, while families prefer trips during school breaks. The primary reason for choosing Umrah during Ramadan is the spiritual rewards associated with this sacred month.
