QUETTA: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has recovered a huge amount of drugs during the crackdown against fake and unregistered medicines in different areas of Balochistan.
According to the officials, Anti-Corruption Circle Quetta recovered a large number of fake medicines from a store located in Hazarganji Quetta. The raid was carried out on a tip-off with Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) officials.
The team seized more than 100 types of unregistered and fake medicines, among the recovered medicines are antibiotics, painkillers and life-saving medicines, while four cases were registered against the accused involved in the sale of fake medicines.
Meanwhile, FIA Chaman conducted raids on three different medical stores located on Powerhouse Road, suspected drugs were seized from the said stores and handed over to DRAP authorities. An inquiry was registered against the accused and DRAP authorities. Further legal action will be taken in the light of the report.
During the last two weeks, FIA Balochistan zone conducted 33 raids against the elements involved in the sale of fake medicines, in which 21 inquiries were registered, while a large number of fake medicines were seized as a result of the raids.
