Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, the Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, has provided insights into the anticipated sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon, signaling the end of Ramadan and the onset of Eidul Fitr in Pakistan. As per his projections, the moon is expected to be visible on the 29th day of Ramadan, indicating that Eidul Fitr 2024 is likely to be celebrated on Wednesday, April 10, across the country.

Maulana Azad emphasized the committee’s willingness to integrate scientific observations and forecasts into their moon-sighting methodology. This stance echoes his prior engagements with former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry, affirming the committee’s acknowledgment of scientific discoveries. However, he reiterated that the final decision would adhere to Islamic principles and testimonies.

The holy month of Ramadan commenced on March 12, following the sighting of the Ramadan moon a day earlier. This year, Pakistanis are poised to observe a 29-day Ramadan, culminating in the joyous celebration of Eidul Fitr on April 10, provided the crescent moon is sighted on April 9.

The advent of Ramadan was also marked on March 12 by numerous countries across the Middle East, Europe, and other global regions, including Australia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Brunei, and Oman.
