The Punjab government has unveiled a bold initiative, the ‘Apni Chat, Apna Ghar’ housing project, with the goal of offering cost-effective housing solutions to its populace. This groundbreaking endeavor is focused on constructing 100,000 apartments across six major cities, featuring a unique payment structure of Rs 26,000 in monthly installments.

At a modest price of Rs 1.5 million per apartment, this project opens up affordable housing options for many families. The initiative is set to commence in key cities such as Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Multan, and Sargodha, ensuring broad geographical coverage.

The Social Protection Authority has been entrusted with the responsibility of devising the guidelines and procedures for this initiative, guaranteeing a transparent and equitable process for aspiring homeowners. In a move to spur construction activities, the Punjab government is extending a substantial 60% subsidy, enabling buyers to acquire apartments by paying only 40% of the total cost in manageable installments.
