GDG Kolachi organises DevFest Karachi 2022

KARACHI: Google Developers Group (GDG) Kolachi organised ‘DevFest Karachi 2022’, one of the largest developer events in Pakistan at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) city campus, a statement said.

Leaders from the tech industry shared their thoughts, stories and experiences on various topics.

They stressed the need to empower women in the industries and technology sectors, so that they could play their role in the economic development of the country.

The real development and progress could only be achieved by empowering the women of Pakistan, they added.

The active core team members of GDG Kolachi included Azeem Abbas, Danella Patrick, Muniza Imran, Sajeel Ahmed Siddiqui, Umar Ahmad, Hassam Jawed, Syed Taha Ali and Samima Khan.

The event, sponsored by VentureDive, Dairah, TPS, 10 Pearls University, and Diya Interactive among others, was conducted in partnership with the IBA.

Hira tariq, lead of GDG kolachi said that Karachi is the tech hub of Pakistan, and has exceptional untapped talent.

“With Google DevFest Karachi 2022, GDG Kolachi and IBA Karachi wanted to give the local developer community a chance to learn, connect and grow with each other,” she added.

“The coming year is going to be tough for all of us, and we really want to create as many platforms and opportunities for the community as we can. Google DevFest Karachi 2022 had nine learning tracks running in parallel on different technologies,” she remarked.

The GDG partnered with five organisations to teach participants hands-on technical skills like machine learning, Google cloud, Web development, Android Development and design thinking, Hira concluded.

Danella Patrick from GDG talked about Mass Design Sprint, a design hackathon organised by team Dairah by VentureDive.

The hackathon was solved in the form of design ideas of some applications around fintech and Edtech.

Harris Solangi, co-manager of GDG kolachi said that it was a wonderful event with over 800 participants.

The event included workshops on Google cloud, android, UI UX, machine learning AI, and web technologies where certifications were given to individuals who completed them.

The speakers of the event included Katalyst Labs Head Jehan Ara along with Rayn Group Chief Executive Officer Moatassim Adrius. There were technical tracks with speakers and Venture Capitalists such as Ahmed Ayub.
