TDAP, PTDC participate in Travel and Adventure Show

The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) participated in a two-day “Travel and Adventure Show”, which was held on January 28 to 29, 2023, at the Jacob Javits Convention Centre in New York, a statement said.

Around 20 prominent companies in the tourism and hospitality sector along with the provincial tourism departments of Pakistan represented the country in the show.

The Pakistani companies from the tourism and hospitality sector, who were participating in the fair, held various B2B meetings with major tour operators in the US, as well as numerous international buyers, during the event.

The commercial section at the Embassy of Pakistan in the United States made it possible to get the site for the Pakistan Pavilion at the main venue of the show, which helped draw the attention of thousands of people to the Pakistani stalls.

A total of 750 organisations from over 175 countries participated in the show. The aim of Pakistan’s participation was to attract foreign investors in the country’s tourism and hospitality sector.

The TDAP in collaboration with the PTDC organised participation of the companies from the tourism and the hospitality sector in the second International Tourism Exhibition.

Earlier, a delegation of businessmen from the tourism and hospitality sector participated in the International Travel Expo at Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam to promote Pakistani Buddhist tourism.

The TDAP remains committed to its objective of promoting exports of goods and services through ensuring participation of the relevant stakeholders in the international exhibitions and seminars.

The Services Division at the TDAP has specialised sections for the promotion of important exportable services such as IT, e-commerce, tourism, banking and finance, halal services, construction and transport and logistics.

The TDAP plans to provide an opportunity to the Pakistani businesses in the tourism sector to participate in different expos during 2022 and 2023.

The TDAP Annual Business Plan also includes the exchange of investors’ delegations, besides several seminars, webinars and business-to-business matchmaking events.

UAE investor injects Rs10b in Summit Bank

Nasser Abdulla Hussain Lootah, a UAE national and a longstanding friend of Pakistan, has injected Rs10 billion in the Summit Bank Limited, a statement said.

In this regard, the shareholders of the bank at their extraordinary general meeting held on January 16, 2023 passed the requisite resolutions, authorising the equity injection.

The president of the bank, Jawad Majid Khan, emphasised that the investor’s commitment to the bank is demonstrated by the fact that, despite the current economic situation of the country, he has already placed the requisite funds, i.e., Rs10 billion with the bank as advance against proposed issuance of shares.

The completion of the transaction will enable the investor to acquire a majority equity stake and management control of the bank, subject to regulatory approvals. The investor intends to convert the bank to a full-fledged Islamic Bank.

Realme to launch Coca-Cola edition smartphone

The world’s fastest growing smartphone brand realme has join hands with Coca-Cola to introduce its first Coca-Cola edition smartphone, a statement said.
