Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz and the daughter of former Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif, has been arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) team at Kot Lakhpat Jail.

According to the details, the NAB summoned Maryam Nawaz in the Chaudhri Sugar Mills case, but she refused to appear and went to meet her Father Nawaz Sharif, who imprisoned in Kot Lakhpat Jail.

Maryam Nawaz has been detained on her way back to Kot Lakhpat Jail after meeting her father Nawaz Sharif, and is now being brought to NAB headquarters.

The NAB is said to have traced numerous telegraphic transfers (TTs) worth millions of rupees by the Sharif family and the end beneficiaries allegedly including Maryam Nawaz and other owners of the Chaudhry Sugar Mills.

The NAB investigation is now trying to ascertain if Maryam Nawaz and other Sharif family members are stakeholders in the Chaudhry Sugar mills.

The case has reportedly been substantiated by the money laundering investigations being carried out against PMLN leaders Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shehbaz.

She was questioned about the “suspicious” transactions related to the Chaudhry Sugar Mills (CSM) of which Maryam was one of the largest shareholders. Sources reveal that the three-member investigation team questioned her about the remittances present in her account, considering her shares in CSM.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari condemned the arrest of Maryam Nawaz in the National Assembly after the news came and also the opposition walked out from the assembly session owing to Maryam Nawaz’s arrest.
