Diwali, the festival of lights is one of the most significant festivals in the Hindu calendar. Diwali celebrations last for five days.
In addition, Provincial Minister for Human Rights and Minority Affairs Ijaz Alam Augustine congratulated Diwali to the Hindu community around the world, especially Hindus living in Pakistan.
He said that people of all religions, including Muslims, Sikhs, Hindus, Christians, Parsis living in Pakistan are citizens of this country and all minorities have equal rights in Pakistan under the Constitution.
The provincial minister has appealed to the Hindu community to celebrate the festival with simplicity due to the worst terrorism in Kashmir so that no one feels bad during the festival celebrations.
Diwali is celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, and Newar Buddhists, although for each faith it marks different historical events and stories, but nonetheless the festival represents the same symbolic victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil.
Diwali is one of the most widely celebrated festivals on the Hindu calendar, observed in late October or early November across India and the Indian diaspora by more than 1 billion people.
