Schools to remain closed in different cities of Punjab as a thick blanket of smog continues to engulf the province.

Air Quality Index crossed the hazardous level yesterday, the Punjab Education Department decided to keep all public and private schools in Lahore, Gujranwala, and Faisalabad to be closed on Friday.

The purpose of an AQI is to report air pollution and if it is producing hazardous results.

If the rank of air quality index increases to 150, it is unhealthy; if it increases from 200, it becomes a very unhealthy environment.

However, the official notification was also initiated by the department.

The smog, in recent years, has become a serious problem in various cities, industrial and transport pollution to be one of its main causes.

Due to bad weather conditions, citizens are being forced to take protective measures. People are facing haziness, nose and eye irritation as common issues these days. respiratory diseases are being spread due to smog.

Health experts have advised people, especially children and the elderly, to remain indoors and not to go out unnecessarily.
