Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that Pakistanis who live abroad are our assets.

According to details, the Prime Minister chaired a high-level meeting in which it was reviewed to give incentives to Pakistanis abroad in terms of remittances.

The meeting reviewed the situation of remittances sent to the country by overseas Pakistanis while considering various proposals for giving more incentives to overseas Pakistanis.

Briefing the Prime Minister at the meeting, Zulfi Bukhari said that in the last 18 months, about one million Pakistanis have been sent abroad, which has seen a stabilization in remittances from the overseas Pakistani community as compared to other countries in the region.

Bukhari further also said that remittances were 20.1 billion in May last year, despite four months of Coronavirus, remittances were recorded at 20.5 billion in May this year.

Presiding over the meeting, the Prime Minister said that facilitating the artisans, laborers and people of other professions working outside the country in every possible field is the top priority of the government.

Imran Khan also said that keeping in view the job opportunities and the market available abroad, special attention should be paid to enhance the skills of the artisans and craftsmen and provide them with better opportunities.

Prime Minister Imran Khan directed to finalize the concessional package regarding remittances as soon as possible and said that immediate implementation of this package should be ensured.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, Abdul Razzaq Dawood, Zulfiqar Abbas Bukhari, Special Assistant Shahbaz Gill, Secretary Finance and other senior officers while Governor SBP Raza Baqir and Deputy Governor SBP attended the meeting through video link.
