On Wednesday, a spokesperson for the national flag carrier confirmed that the European Union (EU) has allowed PIA to continue its flight operations till the 3rd of July.
The spokesperson said all PIA flights — PK785 and PK 786 — to and from Islamabad to London will operate as planned. An announcement will be made soon about other flights, he added.
The PIA official said the Foreign Ministry, airline administration, and Pakistani diplomats were in touch with European authorities on the matter.
The spokesman added that the foreign secretary had approached European diplomats on an urgent basis after which the national flag carrier was permitted to land and also fly over them in Britain and Europe.
According to national carrier spokesperson Abdullah Hafeez Khan, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) had suspended PIA’s air operations permit for a span of six months a day before.
The United Kingdom Civil Aviation Agency (UK CAA) also suspended flight operations from three airports-Birmingham, London Heathrow, and Manchester on Tuesday.
