After the hearing of a money laundering reference against the Shahbaz Sharif household, an accountability court on Thursday issued warrants for the arrests of son Suleman Shahbaz and son-in-law Haroon Yousaf Aziz.
The court also issued summons to Shabaz’s wife Nusrat and daughters Rabia Imran and Javeria Ali.
Shahbaz Sharif appeared before the court where a large number of PML-N supporters also made it to the complex. Inside the courtroom that was crowded, the leader of the opposition reiterated his current stance of not guilty of any illegal activity.
The former Chief Minister of Punjab said that he had not committed any crime nor was involved in any corruption. Shahbaz then reminded everyone in the court that he was responsible for bringing in billions of rupees worth of foreign investment during his tenure.
“Judge Sahib, I swear to God that I have not caused any damage to public money,” said Mr. Shahbaz.
Judge Jawadul Hassan told the politician that he had nothing to worry about if his statements are true.
“I have complete faith in Allah and this court,” responded the PML-N president.
After a NAB official told the court that Nusrat, Suleman, and the two daughters had not joined the investigation the courts issued the aforementioned warrants. The hearing thus has been adjourned to 10th September
